Privacy Policy

Effective: 18 May 2026. Last updated: 18 May 2026.

Bhopper is an iPhone app that shows live, crowd-sourced cover charges and wait times at Boston bars. This policy explains exactly what the app collects, why, and how to delete it.

What we collect

What we do not collect

Why we collect it

The anonymous device UUID and proximity tier exist so we can aggregate many reports into a single trustworthy estimate (e.g. "$5 cover at this bar, 8 minutes ago"). The UUID also lets you delete every report you've ever submitted (see "Deleting your data" below).

Where it's stored

Reports are stored in our backend hosted on Supabase. The app communicates with the backend exclusively over HTTPS using Apple's standard URLSession. Your anonymous UUID lives in the iOS Keychain on your device.

Who we share it with

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with anyone. We also do not send your data to any advertising or analytics network. The cover and wait values you submit are visible to other Bhopper users in aggregated form — that is the entire purpose of the app — but they are never attributed to a name or visible identity.

Deleting your data

Open Bhopper, tap the Me tab, scroll to the bottom, and tap Delete my data. This permanently deletes every report you've ever submitted from our backend, clears your local favorites, and resets the device UUID to a fresh value. The action cannot be undone.

You can also email us at the address below and we'll process the same deletion on your behalf.

Children's privacy

Bhopper is rated 17+ on the App Store because of the bar / alcohol subject matter. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, for material changes, surface a notice inside the app on next launch.
